A

ADR (alternative dispute resolution)

An independent body (e.g. eCOGRA, IBAS) players can turn to free of charge when a dispute with a licensed casino is not resolved directly. The licence determines the applicable ADR.

Affiliate

A publisher/partner driving traffic to casinos for compensation per lead/deposit. Transparency about commercial partnerships is core to trust — and to our methodology.

B

Bonus buy

A feature letting players buy direct access to the free spins or bonus round at a fixed price (often 50–200× stake). Prohibited in several regulated markets.

Big win

A single game win that stands out significantly (often defined as at least 100×–500× stake). We only list wins with a source reference and multiplier — never unverified amounts.

C

Cluster pays

A win mechanic where clusters of connected symbols form wins instead of fixed paylines.

Cashback

A rebate on a share of net losses over a period. May be wager-free or have reduced requirements — terms vary widely.

CPA (Cost Per Acquisition)

An affiliate model with fixed compensation per qualified player (usually defined as an FTD with a minimum deposit).

Conversion rate (CR)

The share of clicks leading to the desired event (signup/deposit). Combined with EPC, the best comparative benchmark for affiliate performance.

Crash games

Fast multiplier games (e.g. Aviator) where the win curve rises until it "crashes" — the player cashes out in time or loses the stake.

D

Deposit limit

The player's own daily/weekly/monthly deposit cap. A core responsible-gambling tool — and a regulatory requirement in several markets.

E

EPC (Earnings Per Click)

A key affiliate metric: total revenue divided by clicks. Used to compare link and campaign efficiency.

F

FTD (First Time Deposit)

A player's first deposit at a casino. Used in affiliate verification as the most valuable conversion step.

Free spins

Free game rounds on a slot, either as a game feature or as a bonus offer. Spin value and max win are often governed by bonus terms.

G

Game studio (provider)

A company that develops casino games (e.g. NetEnt, Play’n GO, Pragmatic Play). The studio sets RTP configuration, mechanics and quality — the casino licenses the game.

GGR (Gross Gaming Revenue)

Gross gaming revenue: wagers minus paid winnings, before costs and tax. The basis for licence fees and RevShare calculations.

House edge

The inverse of RTP: the average share of wagers retained by the casino. A 96% RTP corresponds to a 4% house edge.

Hold & Win

A bonus mechanic where value symbols lock ("hold") on the reels during respins to fill the screen or collect jackpot symbols.

Hit frequency

How often a game on average produces any win, as a percentage of rounds. 25% means a win roughly every fourth round.

Jackpot

A large prize pool, either fixed or progressive, where a share of every wager feeds the pot until someone wins it.

K

KYC (know your customer)

The casino’s legally required identity and source verification before withdrawal. Document requests are normal procedure, not distrust.

L

Licensing authority

The regulator that issued the casino licence (e.g. Spelinspektionen (SE), MGA (MT), UKGC (GB), Curaçao GCB). The licence governs player protection, tax and dispute requirements.

Live casino

Games with a human dealer in real time via video (blackjack, roulette, game shows). RTP and rules are published per game and vary between variants.

M

Max bet (bonus)

The highest allowed wager per round while bonus wagering is active. Exceeding it can void winnings — a term that should always be checked.

Megaways

A slot mechanic (licensed by Big Time Gaming) where the number of symbols per reel changes each spin, creating up to hundreds of thousands of ways to win.

Multiplier

A factor that multiplies a win (e.g. ×2, ×100). In big-win contexts the multiplier describes win size relative to stake.

N

No-deposit bonus

A bonus without a deposit requirement — usually small (free spins or a fixed amount) with stricter wagering/max-win terms.

P

Payline

A defined line across the reels where matching symbols pay. Classic slots have 1–20 lines; modern games often 20–100+.

Provably fair

A cryptographic method (common in crypto casinos) letting players mathematically verify a round was not manipulated, via hashed seed chains.

Pending withdrawal

The interval between a withdrawal request and its processing. Several licences require prompt processing — long waits are a common complaint ground.

R

RTP (Return to Player)

The theoretical share of wagers a game pays back to players on average over time, expressed as a percentage. A 96% RTP means 96 of every 100 wagered units are returned on average — a statistical value over millions of rounds, not a guarantee for any single session.

RNG (random number generator)

Software ensuring each game round is independent and random. Audited by independent testing laboratories.

Reload bonus

A bonus for existing players on a new deposit, as opposed to the welcome bonus on the first deposit.

Reversed withdrawal

When the player can return a pending withdrawal to the balance — a harm factor many modern casinos have removed.

RevShare (revenue share)

An affiliate model paying a share of the casino’s net revenue from the player, often 25–45%, lifetime or per contract terms.

Self-exclusion

A national tool letting players exclude themselves from all licensed casinos for a chosen period (in Sweden via spelpaus.se). Casinos must honour the exclusion.

Sweepstakes casino

A casino model (mainly US) using two currency types to qualify as sweepstakes rather than gambling — marketing terms differ greatly from ordinary casinos.

V

Variance (volatility)

How winnings are distributed over time. Low variance yields frequent small wins; high variance yields rare but potentially large wins. Affects session length and bankroll swings.

W

Wagering requirement

The number of times a bonus (sometimes plus deposit) must be wagered before withdrawal. A 35× requirement on a 100 bonus means 3,500 in wagering. The single most important term in any bonus offer.

Ways to win

A win system where symbols must land on adjacent reels (usually left to right) regardless of position, rather than on fixed paylines.

White label casino

A casino brand run on a third-party platform and licence (e.g. Aspire Global, EveryMatrix). The legally responsible operator may differ from the brand — important in disputes.
